#8 the U
There was a shakeup — no, let’s make that, earthquake, on the Miami coaching staff following the 40–3 embarrassment at the hands of LSU in the Peach Bowl, when four top assistants were shown the door. Also gone are leading receiver Sinorice Moss, four offensive line starters and kick returner extraordinaire Devin Hester.
Kyle Wright begins his junior season under the eyes of first-year offensive coordinator Rich Olson, who has spent the last 12 years coaching in the NFL, and new quarterbacks coach Todd Berry. Wright posted good numbers (59 percent completion average, 2,403 yards, 18 touchdowns to 10 interceptions) for a first-time starter, but he is capable of much more. High-potential wide receivers Ryan Moore, Lance Leggett and Darnell Jenkins also need to step it up. Tight End Greg Olsen might be the best pass catcher on the team; he leads the returnees with 31 catches in 2005.
Tyrone Moss ran for 701 yards and 12 touchdowns before a knee injury felled him after eight games. The prognosis is good for his 100 percent return. Also returning is Charlie Jones, who started the rest of the way and netted 507 yards. A new offensive line has to be assembled around returning center Anthony Wollschlager.
The Canes boasts perhaps the best pair of safeties in the nation. Brandon Meriweather led the Canes in tackles with 115, including 13 for a loss, and Kenny Phillips started 11 games as a true freshman and was a unanimous freshman All-American. Opposing offenses will have to game plan for Phillips for at least the next two years. End Baraka Atkins and linebacker Tavares Gooden are the bell-ringers up front.
The Hurricanes will open 2006 at home to Florida State on Monday, Sept. 4, then travel to Louisville in Week 3. Later in the season, on consecutive weekends, come games at Georgia Tech and home against Virginia Tech.

Score no more

The University of Southern California is the 4th best team in the nation. I know that they don't have their big stars from last year (Leniart, White, Bush), but they have some more young talented guys waiting in the wings. The Pac-10 is a weak conferance for football anyway so they should dominate it. Pat Carroll is a great coach so he'll get the most out of his guys.

Well out of what's not listed, Auburn should be it. I also believe they should be higher with Cox developing even more and Sr. Kenny Irons running the ball, expect a possible BCS bid.
