I wish it were otherwise and am always happy when I see evidence of Scots who feel otherwise. That said, it is clear that many Scots do dislike the English, whether for reasons of ancient history, perceived arrogance, football success, whatever. I just think it's a shame that in a world of so much violence and hatred, two peoples who have so much shared culture and history should waste time feuding with one another.
I have the blood of England, Scotland and Ireland in my veins and I'm proud to have it all! Ancient hatreds are worthless and do nothing to advance forward thinking and forward progress. My advice to any embittered Scots, Irish or Welsh is to let go of the hate and embrace your cousins. The English would be the first to defend you if you were ever attacked by external forces and your islands are so intermixed through centuries of intermarriage that this whole topic of nationalism within the British Isles is patently absurd. Let it go!
P.S. And England, I'm pulling for you at the World Cup but shut up already about 1966! It's been 40 years now and if you fail again in Germany I rather doubt anyone will be bothered to remember the events of so long ago. Focus on the here and now and stop already with the inane bragging about something most of you weren't even around to have witnessed.

The scottish and english have been fighting for years. England took over scottland and did bad things to the people. Slavery(sex) Used their troops intentionally in battles that were one sided against the english. See BraveHeart

I don't think All Scottish people hate the English, do they?
I guess the reason some do is historical.

For a start you can't say all Scots hate all English. But. I'd guess it's probably down to the fact that the English used to rule the Scottish by force and we (the English) won't let them forget it.

We don't hate the English. We just really dislike the fact that for 40 years they have, at every sporting occassion & telly programme, managed to mention Geoff Hurst & 1966 at least 10 times. It's time to give it a rest.

What so many people fail to understand is that it's English people's arrogant, holier-than-thou attitudues that people outside England (not just Scots) hate, not the actual people themselves.
What evidence is there of arrogance? The constant, non-stop gloating by the English whenever they win anything, and when every news programme opens up with, "The main news tonight is that England have won.....".

They are taught to hate the English at a young age, something to do with a bloody battle hundreds of years ago.
Bless em!
