I've worked in Siberia, and the Russian far east. The people are some of the nicest, most gracious, friendly people I have had the pleasure of meeting anywhere. I don't think I would want to live there, not that it's a bad place, but I'm really happy where I am.

Do I love or hate Russia? As in the area of the world that is labelled Russia? It seems nice enough, perhaps a bit colder of a climate than I'd like...I'd probably hate it if I was there without a coat.
Or the government of Russia? I can't say I know much about it since the changeover, I doubt I'd say I love any government.
Or the people that reside in that part of the world called Russia? I tend not to lump people into groups, people are individuals and have their own characteristics. It would take quite a bit for me to hate a single individual, it usually takes them doing something specifically to harm me for me to hate them, otherwise I love my fellow man. So I would say that I love all Russian people until such time that a single individual from that part of the world does something to harm me, then I would love all Russian people except for that particular person.

Russia is a huge country. And to those that say..brr its cold, i hate to tell you this but obvioulsy you are ill informed. It spans 12 time zones and touches the black and caspian sea. You know...right across from Turkey, where it is sunny and warm. Russia is the most diverse country that exists. WHile it may have its political issues, show me the country that doesn't. Culturally it is rich and although its people are depicted as cold, harsh, with a high tolerance for brutality. You will find that its people are welcoming to all and willing to give you a hand if you but ask.

Smiddy married an intelligent, beautiful and classy Russian beauty. Russian literature and poetry is rich and the language is beautiful, once learned.
Smiddy hasn't spent sufficient time in Russia to say he loves it, but there is certainly no hatred.

Feel sorry for the Russians. Hundreds of years of crappy governments, democratic, communist or monachial. Obsolete industrialization, poor regard for the environment, and everyone hates them
