My favorite places to camp in northeast ohio would be the following:
Geneva State Park or Indian Creek Camping Resort in geneva.
I just think that Geneva is one wild and wacky summer town. Plenty of fun things to do with the kids.
Yogi Bears Jellystone Park in Aurora. Is a perfect place to camp with kids.
Mohican State Park in Loudenville is beautiful.
Punderson State Park also has a lot to offer, and great camping sites.
Lake Pymatuning has camping. And it is very unusual there because they are know for having "the ducks that walk on the fish" a very unusual site.
Also West Branch, Portage Lakes, Guilford Lake and Mosquito Lake, though they are not so good.
I think the best choices for the kids sake would be Indian Creek in Geneva or Jellystone in Aurora- just because of all the extras that are available to kids
here are their websites:

Have a fun and safe camping trip.
Take Care.

come down to geneva. we've got geneva-on-the-lake and we've got a mini amusement park for kids. you can camp at geneva state park or go out to richards campground in thompson which is like a 15 minute drive from geneva but it's a nice place and you're still close to the rides for the kids and stuff. richards is right across from thompson ledges, which will give you the same effect as nelson's ledges without the drugs and parting that go on there. it's really pretty.

Well, I don't know, but I was camping up there 7 years or so ago at Mosquito Lake (which is, by the way, aptly named) and the foliage was completely stripped from the trees by Gypsy Moths. No shade whatsoever but gobs of mosquitos. Wherever you get advice to look, go there first and check it out before you actually go camping.

I agree with the idea of the Jellystone Park. It has a yogi bear theme and has a bunch of activities for kids. Their website has a calendar with all their different events. There's other campsites in Geneva and Conneaut that are ok, but I bet your kids would have a bunch of fun at Jellystone.

i like to camp at willow lake in champion. it is home to the world's largest swimming pool and it offers seasonal rv camping, primitive, and sites with electric. it's always a good time and a very reasonable price. it's on route 45

I like taking my kids to Nelson Ledges. It's in Northern Portage County.
