Just curious, Is walking and then swimming a good exercise plan? I know walking is good exercise, especially continuous, power walks. I also know swimming laps are good too. Please, your comments on this.

i think either one by itself of course is better then nothing. however, doing both would be best.

i would reccomend swimming 5 out of 7 days at least. the easiest way would be to join a park district swim team. they dont go that hard and is great for you if youre looking to just get some exercise.

along with that, i would reccomend running maybe 3 times a week for about 20 minutes. just run or jog at a comfortable pace that you can finish.

putting these two together would make a great exercise plan. it would also be good to maybe lift weights once in a while too.

Why not combine your walking with your swimming? Just as you swim laps in the pool, also walk laps in the pool. The water will add resistance to your walking and at the same time reduce the jarring effect you get from walking on a hard surface. Just figure out the same amount of laps you need for a 1 mile or 2 mile walk.

Yes both work quite well. The only thing you might consider is that swimming tends to give you a broad back male and females. You've probably heard the term swimmers body well a broad back is one of the feature. Now if you don't mind then refer to the first sentence. Just keep that in mind. Good luck and have a great work out whatever you do.

I think doing both is a great way to balance your activity so you dont get bored.. most people quit doing something when they are bored.. I quit running because its boring, and I didnt have a good route.. so my recomendation

walk.. different routes.. explore have fun
swim.. in the ocean or the pool but keep it fun, once you get into monotonous swimming it get kind of boring

Depends on how you do it I suppose. Swimming can be very strenuous and tough, depending on speed, stroke and distance. If you're going to do powerwalks, I would suggest doing maybe 10 laps of front crawl. If you found that tough, you can always just go at a slower distance.
