My hubby brought home a frog they found at work last night when they opened a bag of mint. He couldn't tell me where the mint was from but figures they get all their herbs from California so MAYBE from there. I haven't seen it but he says it's a gray frog with small stripes on the back...and it's very tiny.
My son is set on keeping it. I know nothing about what to feed it (obvisouly it likes mint) where to keep it anything. HELP!!

it's pretty plain and not really stripey but diff colors around the eye area. He is saying it's brownish-gray.
I am going by my hubby's viewing of it as he is at home and I am at work! Sorry!

Okay it appears the frog is very tiny. I work at a college and have given it to the vet program. They will try to keep it alive...or perhaps it may just become the snakes dinner. Thanks everyone!

Go to your local pet store and get a small aquarium unit with a lid. Put smooth rocks on the bottom and a few pieces of wood laying at different angles. Put some pieces of edible foods, celery stalk, Kale, and of course the mind. You are going to have to catch LIVE flys and small bugs to put in with him as well at least once a day. You will have to go insect hunting and trap live insects for him to eat as well. Frogs, Toads are difficult animals to keep alive because of their need for live protein and fresh weeds and veggies. Turtles are also difficult to keep as well. You will also need to keep a VERY small dish of water in the little plastic tank as well. We ALL need a water source and will need to change it almost every other day. I'd let my husband take on this job-he was the one that brought it home to show his son! He's created a problem. The frog will probably not live and how will dad explain that? Its probably a "Tree Frog". Your work is cut out for you, but get him some water NOW!

Get a fish tank, but don't fill it all the way, and make a little island out of the gravel so he has dry land to sit on too. Then just be sure to put some screening across the top so he doesn't hop out. A local petstore should be able to help you out there.

First off you need to see if you can find out what kind of frog it is, as some frogs can be very poisonous and Cary all kinds of bacteria. Then after you find all this out, you need to get everything you need from your local pet store and let me tell you my daughter has had a few frogs and they can be very hard to get to eat. Good luck!!

I'd be reluctant to set it free since it's most likely not a native species.
Why not visit your local library and look through frog books. If you look at enough pics of frogs, you'll find yours. You'll need to know what species it is to know what temp to keep its aquarium, how much land/vegatation it'll need, what to feed it, etc.
One other thought is to call your university's biology or animal sciences department to see if anyone specializes in amphibians.

Does it look like any of these frogs?

You also may want to contact your local DEC as it might not be able to survive in its new home and may become an invasive species. Until you know what kind of frog it, treat it like any other wild animal. it's best that you don't give it to your son at this point as you don't know if it's somewhat toxic or not.

Get a snake. The snake'll eat the frog and then you'll wonder "What to do with this snake?".
