Nope. The reason they're called 'public lands' is because you, the 'public' can fetch up by a pine tree or on a grassy hilltop somewhere and have your lunch, free of charge. The National Parks service tries their best to take care of em, but anytime you have something that's free, people come to take advantage of it and act like pigs. They should have more Park Rangers with better enforcement powers, like the lawful ability to give out $500 tickets to people that leave their garbage behind for others to pick up, $1000 and immediate ejection for repeat offenders. Some people are pigs, and need the law to come put a foot in their *** from time to time...privatization will only mean one thing, that eventually the timber will be cut, and you'll see a house on top of Mt. Rushmore or something. Like I said, people are pigs, and the only thing worse than a pig is a pig with money and no disincentive...

I totally agree. I mean how many things have they released about events that happened decades ago, and we are just finding out now?! Not cool. I understand they want to keep the peace and are afraid the we "can't handle the truth" but I would rather know what's really going on than be kept in the dark. If you want an example, look at how the government restricted the media coverage of this war. They are nervous about how people reacted in the 70s when they saw all those horrible things happening and the lines of coffins with the bodies of those soldiers who had died. People protested in large numbers back then and they didn't want the same thing to happen now so they are "protecting us" from it. I think they are just afraid to let us know what is really going on. No wonder the rest of the world thinks we are ignorant - it is because our government keeps sheltering us from the truth! Ok and that ends my rant for now. :)

Would depend on circumstances, though I agree that there is nothing private industry cannot do better (and for a profit) then the Federal Government. But very few people (including me) want to see our National Parks, commercialized. There would have be be very strict conditions that would minimize development on park land and even stricter conditions that it ALWAYS remain a puplic park.

Even if you aren't a big fan of the National Park System, you can't seriously be suggusting that the U.S. Government sell off every millitary base, post office, federal prison, federal courthouse, etc? The U.S. Government, like every other large institiution, needs land to function.

No, you are going in the wrong direction. We should have more free land and the ability to eat off of it. Working should be by choice, like joining the military, instead of a requirement.

Absolutely Not... We are the public you forget? Leave our Natural Parks alone. Who wants to look at more development.. Nothing to smile about... Unless your the one getting the money. And you won't. So let it be...Our United States is beautiful to us. If you want concrete and buildings, move to a sad city.Sad because they sold out the natural habitat...
