The zebra is black with white stripes because the skin is black. Look at the bare skin of the zebra, for example the nose an around the eyes, its black.

I stay in Africa and believe me they are black with white stripes, another interesting fact is that no zebra has the same pattern of stripes, they are all different just like human finger prints.

A zebra is black with white stripes. That is because its "cousin" donkey is black. So it's only logical to say its black with white stripes.

I don't want to argue black is white however there are no such colours! A zebra is all grey with darker grey stripes. Black Beauty was also grey. It's all just shades of grey. Sorry I couldn't give a les negative answer but it's a fact few people know that really bugs me.

A zebra is black with white stripes. The black is skin and the white is fur. (Polar bears have white fur too, but have black skin.)
