I have studied the assassination of John F. Kennedy for nearly 30 years and I am always stunned that ANYONE believes there was a conspiracy to murder JFK. If you are a die-hard conspiracy believer please list your THREE best arguments to support your view that Lee Harvey Oswald was NOT the lone gunman that killed President Kennedy. (This information will be used in a book I am working on dealing with the assassination and public opinion.)

I used to be a die-hard conspiracy believer, quite possibly long before Oliver Stone knew anything about the subject. Back in the early 70s when I was in college, I read many books about the assasination. My cousin went to a lecture by Mark Lane, whose "Rush to Judgment" was one of the first books to question the Warren Report. "Six Seconds in Dallas" absolutely converted me. Now, 30 years and much, much more research later, I am convinced that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. The fact that it is possible to make so many different conspiracy theories seem plausible (the Mafia, the Cubans, the CIA, the military, etc. etc. One guy even wrote a book suggesting that Oswald was really aiming at Jackie but missed because the aim on the Manlicher Carcano was off) seems to indicate that they're ALL wrong. And, after all this time, nobody has ever, ever come forward to say, yes, I was involved. Here's who did it. No deathbed confessions, nothing. It just might be that Oswald made the most incredible shot in the history of weaponry. Just because it can't exactly be reproduced doesn't mean he didn't do it that one time.
Believe me, I am aware of all of the refutations to this argument. Many of them are quite compelling, but none of them constitutes anything near proof.

I am an amateur on many things, but ballistics is not one of them. TV, docudramas, movies and books. Can never tell the story accurately of what happened in Dallas on 22 Nov 1963. The lies, and cover-ups have been going on since. The Z. film shot on that day clearly shows the violent impact of a shot fired from the front, throwing the presidents head back. Some will say the acceleration of the limo cause that. Testifying as both a firearms expert and one who has been tested under fire driving in heavy armored vehicles, while being fired at. I will tell you that I know of no armored vehicle past or present that would have caused G forces to throw the president back in such a violent fashion. A well placed sniper shot from the front on the other hand would have. But I wish you the best with your book, I just think the Americans alive today that witnessed that day in 1963, have given up on the government ever revealing the truth. Conspiracy - yes - who, what, and why?

I too used to believe strongly in the conspiracy theory but now I'm not sure. Some things about it keep "niggling" at my brain. Such as the fact that both JFK and RFK were shot. Also, the fact that RFK really went after the Mob after they gave so much money to support his brother's election. I recall that the most compelling evidence to my mind was something to do with the tragectory of the bullets. If it was a conspiracy I vote for the Mafia.

The American sect of the international Zionist conspiracy had many, many reasons to assassinate young JFK. His activist policies undermine the course of action that the IZC have set for our Western society; conservative/bloodthirsty leaders such as GWB play much more nicely into their hands. Furthermore, CIA documents show that the zionists are willing to assassinate foreign heads of state to achieve their means; why not a domestic head of state?

The world would be a much different place today if he had not been killed.

Mr. Curious, I don't know if there is a real, legitimate "American History scholar" who believes in a conspiracy theory on the JFK assassination - perhaps that is by definition.

Nice try Mr Curious and I really do hope you can get an educated answer to this one out here. (maybe I'll get surprised) I'd love to go off on this but I'd rather meet you in a more appropriate forum. You know, like "American History Lovers" or "JFK Conspiracies" forum or related. 2 cents!

1. Robert Kennedy was also assassinated.
2. Both Bobby & Jack were involved in trying to take down the mob or reduce crime.
3. I don't trust LBJ for anything. I seem to remember reading about a shootout in Alice, Texas so he would be elected. It wouldn't shock me at all to find out he was involved.

1.) the forensics don't back the lone gunman theory

2.) the shot that hit kennedy in the head was a sniper quality shot. civilians don't shoot that lucky, oswald lacked the training.

3.) oswald was killed auspiciously fast.. kind of like jack ruby. whom i also believe to have been innocent.

I think a lot of people credit Oliver Stone - they saw that movie JFK. It was riddled with mischaracterizations of the facts. I saw Mr. Stone interviewed by that guy with dark eyebrows (forgot his name) who took issue with Stone on some of his claims about telephone service going out for a period of time. This reporter was there making phone calls during the time that the movie said the phones were out. Stone was saying, "huh? i know we checked the facts and i can't imagine that we got any of it wrong."

Imagine it, Oliver.
