I'm sorry to hear that you have had bad experiences with all of your bosses....
The majority of MY supervisors/bosses have been really great... the only bad boss I have ever had was this crazy lady who had gone thru over fifty serving staff in the past year (midlife crisis, perhaps??). I quit that job before I had my own crisis.
:)

That's how you get ahead. (That's how Colonels get their Star)Me personnally I can't be one, because I've treated like dirt for a couple of years from my previous boss. I vowed never to do the same. Start talking about work more with the person and help get things done. If that person is still an ******, then you have to be tactful and stand up for yourself. Don't take anything personal. (If you do that, you will become a hateful person.)
Don't kiss anybody's *** though. Do what's asked of you. No more no less. If you kiss ***, there is a high chance that you won't get respect from that person. (Depending on the person.)

Generally, it is in the perception. The employee who won't work, won't do the job as it is supposed to be done, expects special consideration as their due and thinks just showing up deserves a paycheck always thinks poorly of their boss. Granted, there are some bosses who are just plain jerks, but usually it is because the employee isn't doing what they were hired to do !

Sometimes bosses are responsible for the success of the company they are running. Sometimes employees look at their job as the means to a paycheck. If you take ownership of your job and look at if from the perspective that your performance influences and has a direct impact on the success or failure of the business that you are employed by and by taking ownership of your position, you will find that your relationship with your boss may change, your oulook may become more positive and you may start to produce more income. Instant Kharma gonna get you.

I can't say that they are all like that because I have some very understanding and helpful bosses.Yes,I have had the other kind too! They just let their authority go to their heads and don't know how to act like a decent human being anymore. They think that by running us over they are more likely to get things done. What is the saying "you get more bees with honey".? The ******* do not have such a philosophy.

The thing with bosses is that they have to follow rules of i higher standard... Me for example i work PT in a lumber yard i have over 3 yrs. exp. on the equipment. to me OSHA is pointless. For my boss though if OSHA decides to come though and "survey" the yard and i am breaking a few rules - it is his problem - he is fined and has other reprimand put onto him. Where as i may just get a write up/suspension/substantially smaller fine/possibly fired/etc. Just not as bad as him.

They are on their own little power trips. Most of the time because they are not the boss at home.

I'm still trying to figure that out myself. I think it's a power issue. Once someone knows they have power over someone else, some people tend to abuse the situation.
I can empathize with you.
