The V-rod may be a few tenths of a second faster than the Suzuki in the quarter mile but it costs around $2,500 more. The V-rod is a great bike but the Suzuki is a great bike as well. It's been my experience that HD's are almost always slower in real life than in a motorcycle road tests. At the strip, stock Harley big twins usually don't even get into the 13's while stock Japanese bikes often run much faster. Stock Honda CBR 1000's often will run in the mid 9's while I have never seen a stock V-rod "ever" get into the high 11's. New V-rods will usually run about 12.6's. I have a friend who races HD "big twins" and they can run fast but require rebuilding four or five times a season. His son has raced a modified Suzuki Hyabusa for the last four years and has "never" had to do any engine work. His Hyabusa runs in the low 9's consistently. I raced a new V-Rod on my Goldwing 1800 to over 130mph, and I was about three bike lengths ahead by 125. Above that, I slowly moved ahead of the HD. Honestly, HD's are mostly "talk" and "sound' but are NEVER the performance kings. I like HD's, but honestly they are primarily just for show for HD fanatics only. The rest of us know the truth.

RE:
Which motorcycle is faster the M109R or a V ROD?

there is a lot of hype about both bikes and I agree that both are fast cruisers, and I like the idea of buying american and all that jazz, but............I own a 2013 109r and it does have a slip on cobra exhaust, thats it, and I race a vrod every chance I get and I've never even had one close to me on a holeshot. I also know for a FACT that whoever donates the most money to a magazine each month gets the nod on performance. I also think that a street glide is the prettiest motorcycle on the road and I have a ferring and bags on my 109 and Im in it for about $14000, but to get the performance on a street glide I get out of my 109r you will step up to the $42000 screaming eagle. Harley are overpriced !!

Anyone that's been to a NHRA event and thinks they are racing factory Vrods is an idiot. I guess John Force is actually racing a Ford Mustang ! Notice people telling you to change out the Vrod pipes ? Thats because of the "potato, potato, potato" sound it makes stock. Vrod engine designed by Porsche so prepare to pay Porsche price for parts. Resale on the Vrod continues to decline as other posters note the HD hardliners made it an orphan. Check out a Victory Hammer with Stage 2

V-Rod...definitely - actually saw a drag race between the two. You need to add some Rinehardt pipes to it and it will kick some butt!

And, yes, Warren does have a point. No matter what bike you get, wear a helmet and don't drive like a fool.

On my "slightly" modified m109r, aftermarket pipes, power commander and forced air intakes, I've seen 140 pretty quickly, then slower to a top of 148......

did you take your medication? Suzuki make the M109, just happens to be Japanese, retard.
Harley are still an assembly company, check where they get parts from before you get too patriotic
