YES I DO
But, i am not talking for Pink Floyd without Syd Barrett.....even tough i must admit that 90% of Pink Floyd fans are fascinated from Dark Side Of The Moon or The Wall
Well me not
I think that the band without Barrett is like a fish in a fresh air., they can't breathe without him.He has the power and secret special magic who was moving them up and up and sudenly when he was gone they started to fall down...
Evidence for that is their tribute "Wish You Were Here" dedicated for Syd....
Even today (last summer) at live 8 Gilmour sad "This song is for everyone who are not here specialy for you SYD...."
When we talk about The Wall i may right say that the album for me is one thing that shoes Gilmours BAD and Suffering childhood and his complexes of it.... ---not even close to good.
Dark side of the moon, well i think is very psychadelic like the meddle or atom heart mother
But not qute (not close at all ) close to the PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN and SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS Who are unique and a piece of music who will never ever die and will always remain ......
SYD BARRETT IS THE SOUL OF THE WHOLE BAND
NO ONE WILL EVER REPLACE HIM.....

Trick question. Music is always going to be of a particular time -- and never "of all time"... When Pink Floyd was in their heyday, we were sure it was earth-changing music. But then so were so many other bands. It seemed like from 1967 to the mid-70s, everything coming out was brand-new.
Now, 30 or 35 years later, it's dated. Maybe not as dated as big band from my mom's era, or the stuff from my grandmother's time, but it's still dated.
Will there be Pink Floyd music around in 50 years? Probably. 100? Maybe. But there will be plenty of competition in that timespan to make an arugment for "Most influential" of THAT time.
My advice? Don't fixate on any one band and ignore others. That works when you're young, but when you get older, it'll only make you seem even more ancient as you go on and on about how great some band was when you were in high school...
I've got every CD Floyd ever put out -- including some bootlegs and even the trance remixes -- but that's just a small part of a !,400+ CD collection... There's some good in all music -- all GOOD music...

Pink Floyd does rock, but most influencial of all time? Nahhh man. Floyd's influence is late Beatles, Beatles influence was Elvis, Elvis's influence was the early Jazz and Blues artists. You can always keep going back.

Not really, I mean they're good but not as influential as say, The Beatles or The Stones or even The Sex Pistols. Besides, I liked them better when they were a pop band with Syd Barrett, but no one seems to remember that. Just that long boring concept stuff. Writing a twenty minute song does not make you a genius, only self indulgent. I do like Roger Waters' solo stuff.
PS They arrived with their first album in 1967, have that guy before me check his chronology instead of making a revisionary guess, early 60's my a**!

Awesome, they have been around since the early/mid 60's and so far they have kept their music up with the times while still generating that "you know its pink" quality

I'm not sure how influential they were, but they were very original and talented. There aren't many bands that could lose a key member (Syd Barrett) and actually get BETTER!
