It doesn't have anything to do with bugs or other pests and tastes just as good as smoothskinned squash. The outer skin might be just slightly tougher.

Because the variety you are growing has those characteristics.
Squash have a variety of "looks" to them. Enjoy!

they must be yelow squash,they do that!crooked neck yellow squash almost always look like that!its just a characteristic!
