First it was good you gave them fertilizer in the form of manure, I do hope you mixed the soil with it since manure can burn if used straight. Keep in mind roses need water, the are heavy drinkers so if you get several really hot days don't forget to water them. I suggest making a dam around them with soil and fill the dam at least three times each watering. Keep them pruned also by bringing in several blooms to enjoy inside. Once the ones on the plant are done trim them back to the first set of five leaflets. This will promote more blooms and will save the plant energy in creating rose hips which are their seeds. Birds love them so leave some come late fall. When watering don't went the leaves. Water from the bottom if possible. Water will and can cause leaf spot if it is humid out. And getting rid of leaf spot is a bugger and can kill the plant. Also watch for aphids and Japanese beetles which love roses. You can use sprays for the aphids but I suggest hand picking and putting the beetles in some kerosene to kill them. The less amount of pesticides you use the better. My Grand ma use to use several drops of dish detergent in a squeeze bottle of water for the aphids and it worked well. Enjoy your roses and let us know how it ends up.

Roses are hard to take care of (they were for me anyways) Just make sure to check the leaves everyday for diseases. Mine always got black spots on them (forgot the name of the disease) but I had to constantly spray them with this prevention stuff. I made the mistake of planting mine in a moist/damp area in my yard that didn't get alot of wind, which is what caused the problems.

roses are heavy feeders, find a fertilizer specifically for them and water good, if they are climbers give them something strong to climb
