It depends what you want to do. If you are unsure you could always do a double major. Currently i am studying a basic Bachelor of Business Science, with majors in both Finance and Accounting. and when i graduate i can do both my finance honours as well as accounting honours. After that i can either become a CFA (chartered financial analyst) or a CA (Chartered accountant). Both are really good careers, but the demand for professionals in such fields are dependent on the country you want to work in and the money you want to get paid. In some countries there is an excess of CFA's but a shortage of CA's, so CFA's are paid less than CA's and are in less demand. Since its good to have options, having a double major is always a good thing, and since both subject dont differ as significantly as you might think, alot of the work overlaps and it is not a difficult double major. If you are unsure about what to study, i recommend doing a general Business degree in your first year, and since it is the same across all fields during your first year, you can always choose your majors in your 2nd or 3rd year. But generally i would think that both finance and accounting degrees are equal when it comes to being of a high standard.

It's a tough call. I think that the Finance Degree is easier to earn, due to the fact that accounting is a language of its own and many people seem to struggle with it. I have read that Finance degrees usually command higher salaries (slightly). I would just pick the one that interests you most, personally if we are talking strictly undergrad degree, I think the accounting degree is more marketable. Regarding salary during a "normal" economy both of these degrees should fetch you about a $50k/year starting salary, though today this can likely be less. Good luck!

I would say the finance degree is better because the subject matter covers a very broad area of both national and global business', whereas accounting covers a very narrow scope - nation wise.

depends what you want to do. If you are going to be an accountant then the accounting degree will be better but if you are just doing general business then the other may be better

I as an accounting major and I found that I had opportunities in a lot more fields with the accounting degree. There is a lot more room for advancement and transfer if you go and get your CPA.
