Sorry i am quite sure who says you were naughty.
If it was the little one then, as long as the parents have no problems with this, no.
If, however, it was the parents then yes. Everyone has a right to raise their children how they see fit (so long as the children are not subject to abuse or neglect) and if they are not happy with their child being able to burp (i assume you mean on command) then you have to respect their wishes.
I have a similar argument going on with two family memebers. One taught the others little girl (4 years) to blow raspberries and the mother is really against this. The one who taught her, however, thinks that she is making a far too big of a deal because her own children blow raspberries all the time and she can't see a problem.
They are, of course, both correct in their own ways, but you MUST respect the wishes of the parents at all times. They have to live with what you teach their children after all.

People should try to raise children to be polite. You don't need to teach children how to burp, (believe it or not they already know how). Kids should be taught to burp only when they have to, and to while they are, to cover their mouth, and to promptly after say excuse me when they finish.

No. It's natural. How can you teach someone to perform an automatic bodily function? If you mean teaching her how to do it deliberately, it was a bit naughty but I would do something like that if I could. :P
