rap music, if it can be called 'music', exploits racial stereotypes giving the public negative images of african-americans. Rap music has done more to promote racism than anything else in the last 30 years.

This is such a stupid question. Rap is coming up on 30 years old now and racism has been around for hundreds of years. Racism was here through swing, bee bop, jazz, folk, R&B, disco, funk, country and all other types of music, do you really think rap music is what is keeping racism around?

Racism will be around long after rap music is gone. And it's not just a white thing anyway, I have seen lots of racist black people. It seems minorities are allowed to get away with being racist at times. Racism is a complex issue and to make it trivial by saying rap has an influence is just foolish. It is something that the politicians or some media outlets would have you believe because it is simple and they refuse to deal with the true underlying issues which are educational and economic disparity.

I don't think that racism is here only because of rap, the only explanation i can refer to is that we're all looking for a scapegoat, take examples like Hitler, blaming everything on the Jewish made his whole campaign so much easier. Take this into acount too, racism was here before rap, people have always been afraid of something or someone different, your people are not the only ones suffering from racism, as a white person in a 90% hispanic community i have had to bear a lot, when i moved here 3 years ago i was shocked, i'd never done anything against these people, but they chose to hate me. As for women looking bad, men have always been stating their superiority over us, the only difference is that now we have civil rights.

I think racism is still here because of stupidity. The people who can't get their heads out of their a$$es and realize that we are all HUMAN and just judge people because of the color of their skin are just ignorant.

I think a lot of rap music is just immature and uneducated people making crap up that rhymes, no matter who it offends. I agree, it does make people look bad, but country music never makes anyone else look good either. Songs about cheating, lying, and stealing.... so basically, any genre of music would make people look bad.

Sorry for the rant.

Racism is still here because of the racists. Sure, they're less likely to spark a lynching these days, but they still have a knack for justifying their bias by whatever means necessary.

Rule of thumb, if the words "I'm not a racist, my ________ is black!" escape someone's mouth, they're in denial.

Rap is a recent and passing phenomenon, racism will outlast rap.
