Cuss words were created from creativity, with the lack of Love. As being created, they have many purposes. Some are for the reasons of "bending the rules" and others are for releasement of the emotions of one's self. Example: Geez! Well... as only guessing, it was created to say instead of Jesus, so one would not get condemned. Same goes with Gosh. A slang originated from the word God. Now when it comes to more piercing words like the "F" word (Which I just found out that Yahoo censors out bad words *Chuckles*). One can only asume that it has been around for a long time (Considering that just about everyone knows this word - this slang), but how far will determin where it originated. This word I have no clue of how it came about. Now a word like B*tch, which means "female dog" - originally - one tends to use and alter to fit their way of thinking. Example is also the word Retard. Most people think it means 'a mentally challenged person'. This is not true, just as much as it is. True only because people tend to change the original meaning of a word. All it means is 'to be held back'. Either from one's self, or other means of cause and effect is determined on the situation given. So to answer the question more simply, it was created by humans being less then who they really can become, with laziness and the lack of Love. As for cussing in general, if you look at each word and compare to where it stemmed off from, you will see that the words are pretty much the same. It is actually the habbit of saying not the word but the vocal sounds. Exapmle is Geez (once again) or Geeziz or however one would pronounce their own way. In each word, there is still the same vocal sounds. "G" - "Ee" - "Z". If you look at Gosh, you are pretty much saying God, but most refuse to look at this. So when someone starts to cuss, all it means is that they have internal struggles that they just must need to release and/or they have a habbit that is not easy to change unless they change themselves for the better with Love. The only problem is that others absorb these harmful energies and most do not have enough understanding of what exactly they are doing. Hope that answers the question.

"Cussing" is a shortened form of "Cursing", which has always meant, saying something bad about someone. The worst american profanity, the "C" word, the "F" word, etc, are anglo-saxon in origin and date from about 1000 - 1250 A.D.

The link below is a college essay on the use of profanity in the english language, complete with references like:

Hughes, G. (1991). Swearing: a social history of foul language, oaths and profanity in English. Oxford: Basil Blackwell.

I wonder if Barnes and Noble carries that one.

I'm not sure, but sometime during the Neolithic Ages, a caveman or neanderthal somewhere grunted in a derogatory manner. And that grunt developed into a cuss word.

Curse words came from harmless origins. for example F@#$ was originally a accronym "Fonification under concent of king" which was used for newly weds.

Shooting the bird on the other hand and the saying "f@#$ you" came from the midevil time. When army captured a archer they didnt execute them they simply cut off your middle finger. At that time bows were made of hue tree(please pardon the spelling). So when archers meet a enemy they would raise their middle finger and scream "pluck hue". Which eventually came out to be "F@#$ you"

Those are just a few example.

If you think about it in the right way, there is no cussing. Like the word ***, means donkey, it's even used in the bible. And the word damn, just means your damned to hell. The F word, I have no idea who came up with that.

most all cusswords start out as inside jokes, sometimes by celebrities (like skeet) others just by people who aren't afraid to use words they made up, and the word can spread to their whole community, and then out from there
