The Ghana goal in 01'08" really was the fastest but was very nearly beaten by Portugal against Angola where (in the Grp D opening match):
0:06 Portugal races down the field and Pauleta almost scores. That would have been the fastest World Cup goals ever. Bad sign for Angola.
6 seconds really would have been a record.
