it's just a casual party, a get together. my bf is finally invited even tho we've been dating for almost two years. i told him to just be himself but to not be so crazy. i want him to be himself but to tone down a bit. i don't really care if they don't love him, but i want them to like him. the question is, how do i get my friends to accept him?

They eventually will as long as he doesn't try to hard. If he does he may end up looking like an idiot. Most mature people will accept him either way even if they don't particularly care for him because he's your boyfriend.

Just introduce him and encourage to talk to your friends. You can't control him or the situation. Just have fun with it. I think it's kind of weird that you've been dating that long and he's finally getting invited. There must be something missing here.

Don't try to control the situation. Your only role is to bring him along, introduce him and don't let him feel left out during the party. If he wants to act like like a jerk, then that's up to him. You can't control who will like who. If someone acts inappropriately, including bf, then think about whether you want the relationship to continue.
