The Exorist - the original for sure then
The Omen... also the original
They don't make them like they used to and they are running out of scary ideas... nowadays they are more into the sick factor..

I am a huge fan of Horror movies...for the scariest I would have to say the "Ring"...I watched that movie for the first time by myself in the dark and the part where the lady first watched the tape and the phone rang....my phone rang at the same time!! Talk about getting the Sh#$ scared outta you....now gruesome movies...the most gruesome movie I've seen I'd have to say....Saw!

I still can't watch The Shining all the way through. The Grudge, Freddie, The Ring, and The Omen don't come close.
One scary movie that nobody mentioned was Communion with Christopher Walken. It wasn't a thriller like some of the above movies, but I couldn't get the thought out of my mind for years.

The scariest movie that I have ever watched is The Ring. I will not watch any of the newer horror movies since I saw that one. When I was younger, scary movies were Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th...mostly blood and guts. This stuff they are putting out now messes with your mind and truly gives you nightmares!

Although it is a rather old movie, "The Haunting of Hill House", by Shirley Jackson is one of the scariest films I have ever seen.

I'm not a huge fan of horror movies, the only one I saw that actually scared me was The Shining. Looking back it's actually quite funny, but the first time I saw it I was freaked out by those little girls, and the guy in the bear suit... that was just weird.

"The Grudge" and "The Ring" were both freaking scary. I couldn't sleep for a week after I saw "The Grudge," because I live in the attic of my house, and I had a black cat at the time. I spent my nights reading the Bible in hopes that it would keep the evil spirits away. :-) "The Ring" was just creepy, but seeing "The Ring 2" helped.

FOR ME when I was a kid it was Freddy Krueger. Now when I see the newer version of House on Haunted hill or House of 1000 Corpses I get really scared.
