If you are on International Drive in Orlando, you have to go 45 mins east to Daytona or 45 mins west to Tampa to get to a beach. There are small lakes in Orlando, but no real beaches.

No. International Drive (locally called "I-drive") is in the MIDDLE of FLA. Closest beach is about 50 miles east - Cocoa Beach (Titusville-Cape Canaveral Area). Pretty much across the street from your hotel is Wet-n-Wild, a water park - but the ocean is a drive away. To get there, it's pretty easy though - go south on I-Drive from your hotel (or west on I-4) to FLA-528 (toll road called the "Bee Line") east to Canaveral. Cocoa is a tourist beach city, with nice beaches. Titusville is the entrance to Kennedy Space Center, and Canaveral National Seashore. CNS is unspoiled natural beachfront - sand dunes and ocean. No condo's or anything else. It's also immediately adjacent to NASA launch pad 39A where the space shuttle blasts off from. If you want another beach option, go east on I-4 from I-drive through Orlando, all the way up to Daytona Beach. Unique place as you can drive your car right out on the beach, park there, and play in the ocean. The drive is about 60 -70 miles from Orlando (I-4 east to I-95 north, exit on US192 east - that will take you right in front of Daytona International Speedway, all the way to FLA A1A, which is also Beach Blvd), which runs parallel to the oceanfront.
Hope this helps.

If you intend to sense particular in an memorable holyday then Miami can be your place, exactly like you might find with hotelbye . The resorts and the traditional hideaways of Coral Gables from Miami will certainly impress you just like the popular Ocean Drive. Ocean Drive works across the oceanfront in Miami Beach, moving the historical Art Deco structures and the famous strip of sand known as South Beach. In Ocean Drive you can go equally to the day and to the night for a slow cruise and some travel by sightseeing. Another place worth visit may be the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. The structure, the lands, and the graphics it has are all worth the journey to go to that beautiful place.

there are no real beaches on I-Drive, wet n wild has its own man made beach but i think Clearwater is the nearest coastal resort about an hour away. If you dont want to leave the orlando area but want an amazing day at a tropical resort with great man made beaches and a swim with the dolphins then Discovery Cove is a must do . Its an amazing place. You can also book day trips to Miami once in Orlando ,south beach Miami is just awesome, just ask at your hotel, they are so helpful

The closest beach to International Drive is 45 minutes west or 65 minutes east. The gulf coast offers beaches like Clearwater and Siesta Key in Sarasota, while the east coast offers great beaches like Coco Beach, Daytona and New Smyrna. Grab a map and have a great time!
And if you're going to be stopping at Disney World, check out my Disney Vacation blog before you go!

Orlando doesn't have any beaches. You either have to drive about 40 min to Daytona or down by Tampa to Clearwater Beach which should be an hour and a half. Clearwater is a pretty nice beach, lots and lots of places to stay.

not that I know of...the nearest beaches to my knowledge are on the other side of Tampa. International Drive is like, the main road through Orlando...Tampa's about 45 mins. from Orlando..and the beaches are just on the other side of it. I don't think Orlando has any beaches....unless they are Lake Beaches.
