Seriously..why is there this big black thing out there?

Space doesn't exist. There are things IN space. Matter makes up the stars and planets and gasses and eveything you see. Everything you DON'T see, I.E. the large black void, is nothing. There is no matter or antimatter or anything there. It's just....emtpy. Therefore, it doesn't exist. Only the things in it exist.

Space is what the universe is "made from". Space and time. If space did not exist nither could anything in it (matter or energy) including us.

So we have somewhere to go once Earth runs out of natural resources and is about to be hit by an asteroid.

i highly doubt space exists solely for the purpose of relocating humans once they decimate this planet.

so we can go there when u fall out from over population. and for stars, the sun, the planets, including ours, which wouldnt be there coz it apparantely needs space. and for satellites.
