It takes you only believing in God, and that Jesus was our savior and his son. That is what I believe, anyway.

The God's honest truth is nobody knows what it takes to get to HEVEN. But if you want instead to get to HEAVEN, I suggest that you start by doing a deep soul-searching process. I don't mean asking a priest for God already left his side a long time ago. And I don't mean asking a Rabbi for he is still waiting...for something. And please don't ask an Imam for the simple reason that you will then be taught to forgo some of the most rewarding things in life...like good loud music and funky fashion. And the minister...fuggedaboutit!!! One thing we, as a RACE, should have learned from our history is that every religion has it's own agenda, namely to keep you in the fold's bounty donor list and to be prejudiced of all others!!! So what do I mean soul-searching? I have no clue...but don't start reading any RELIGIOUS book for they teach and preach exclusivity and seclusivity. I guess what I am saying is you have to find that out for yourself. Society holds the crucible of morality wherever and whoever you are. Heaven itself is a relative term with different meanings in different cultures, geographic location, and level of technological development. For crying out loud, majority of the world doesn't even have a notion of HEAVEN at all. Maybe then you and I can just relax and wait. If and when THE ALMIGHTY above, below, or wherever decides to end it all and chooses HIS/HER/ITS chosen people or living beings on earth, boy, most of us will be in for a great surprise for it won't be ALL of us...for we follow and lead supremely different tenets and religious lives. I suspect that gnashing of teeth will be the only universal occurence because HADES/HELL/UNDERWORLD or WHATCHAMACALLIT will be the repository of world's majority.
PS: I did not read any of these ideas from any book!!!

Nothing. I don't believe in heaven or hell, just another dimension or the other side as some refer to it.
If there was a God that is so great, non-judgmental, and loves everyone, why would this entity create such a hateful place for some of us to go? I believe when we die, we are forgiven for the sins we've committed in life.
I also believe the concept of the devil was invented a long time ago as a scare tactic to get people to live the laws of the bible.
And if there really was a hell, most of us would be going there after death because no one is perfect.

I'm not so sure I believe there is a heaven.
Where would heaven be located?
How would all the billions of people all fit into heaven?
However, if I did believe there is a heaven I would say I think everyone should go to heaven after they die. I don't think people should have to do anything special to go to heaven.
I don't think a person should have to be preoccupied about worrying whether they will go to heaven when they die rather than being in the here and now and living their life to the fullest.
I don't believe in hell.

functional question. God provides us a decision to adhere to Him and believe that he's the reality, the mild and how, and those that follow me shall in no way die. those that do not remember on God are in probability of dropping their souls to devil. God contained in the proper will choose those who believe and those who do not. contained in the proper there is in undemanding words Heaven or hell. era. God will divide those into 2 aspects. the right and the left. those that believe and those that do not. a good e book that you need to study is termed the surprising secrets and techniques of the Souls of Purgatory through Sister Emmanuel of Medjugorje. this would truly provide you some perception into this question. finally, imagine of this: save in recommendations the dual Towers the position the planes crashed into? do no longer ignore that there became no longer some thing yet fireplace from the jet gasoline, and how horribly warm it would want to were to take down any such tall progression, and the those that jumped to their death to guide away from the fireplace. properly.... the fireplace of hell is many cases hotter, and for all eternity. the position would you particularly be?

It starts before you die. The first step is to accept God as your Saviour. They follow the 10 Commandments. Then practice being a good Christian. When the time comes to go to Heaven, God will be there to greet you.

I think that you can change and improve who you are only when you are alive. Once you die, you are stripped of your physical body and belongings. Even your knowledge of this world is useless. You are left with who you are, that is it - forever
So, If you like who you are by the time you die, that is heaven,
if you don't like who you are, that is hell, because you can't change that anymore. Any depressions, any anger, any unfulfilled dream, that is your punishment, forever
This is why it is so horrible for me when people kill themselves. There they are, in the lower moment of their lives and then then commit suicide, prolonging their misery forever
