I do a lot of traveling in my line of work and get pleasure from wandering around old cemeteries on my off time. The older, smaller ones are my favorite. I like to trace family lines and try to identify stones that show signs of having been carved by the same hand.
Its especially interesting to visit cemeteries in old Mormon communities and see evidence of plural marriages.

I like to do that, I have done that since I was a boy in Scotland. I also do it now, here in Ontario Canada. It's interesting to see the old stones and read about people who lived around here well over a Century ago and wonder what their lives were like. I see some old stones which have the whole family on them, sometimes they were all young too, the parents and the children, even babies. I imagine that must be linked to some epidemic which went around, either that or an exceedingly hard life back way back when. The old stones around here must belong to Pioneering families who would have had it very rough indeed.

I do. I have to say that I do it respectfully though. I think people and their lives are so fascinating. Everyone is different yet we all pretty much want the same things out of life. I enjoy talking to the elderly because they have so much to share, such diffferent experiences.
I always walking away from the cemetary with a sense of gratitiude, peace and sorrow.

I do. Not only that, if I find a particularly funny name or a beautiful headstone, I take a photo.
