dont get me wrong, i listen to hardcore metal, rock, pop, and even rap but ive been listening to country since i was born. its one of the only styles i know that has real soul and meaning. sure some of it is a little "twangy" but its good music. why do people insist on dissing it?

I've been listening to country and any type of rock ever since i was born. I don't see why people diss it. I hear a lot of people who diss it but then i rarely hear the people who listen to country dissing rap or anything. I love country music. I think it does have a meaning in it like a lot of rock songs. People I know can relate to the songs and everything while the people I hear listening to rap and liek everything else, they don't or can't usually relate to any of the songs. I can relate to lots of country and rock songs.

Let me preface my answer by saying I LOVE Country Music and really HATE Nashville Music.

Real Country music in my book is rural "roots" music like Bluegrass, Gospel, Texas swing, Southern Rock, Western, heck even Mississippi Blues and some Tejano.

The pre-programmed, artificial twang, lowest-common-denominator crap that comes from the Nashville Music Machine has degenerated into a formulaic and loathsome art form, much like the crap that Hollywood studios generate. they try to package a formula, recruit pretty people and put them together, then pay off anyone and everyone for airplay. It's corrupt and it's corporate, despite the "down-home" flavor added to fool the masses.

Give me Faron Young or Waylon Jennings or David Allen Coe any day over the new Pop-country stars!

I enjoy it myself..I didnt use to as a kid but have come to appreciate it alot more now..Most the younger C&W singers may take offense to the youngin's saying they feel old listening to it but hey to each their own huh?60's 70's rock and some after that will always be my favorite music but I like a variety of styles too..I think the twang is what people dont like about it mostly..I think its unique..=)

I dont hate country music and a lot of people don't either just don't want to admit they like it. I grew up with country music myself (live in Tennessee close to Memphis). I also like hardcore metal, rock, pop, rap, reggae, some classical (like betthoven) etc.

Some people are more interested in "looking cool" that they are ashamed to say what they really like. You can bet your last dollar they they listen to it when they are alone and nobody listening they just wont around people lol

DAVID J......NASHVILLE IS WHERE COUNTRY MUSIC STARTED.....I LIVE IN TENNESSEE. AND SURROUNDED BY MUSIC.. MEMPHIS IS "THE BIRTHPLACE OF ROCK N ROLL AND NASHIVILLE IS "THE HOME OF COUNTRY MUSIC" IF YOU DON'T LIKE COUNTRY MUSIC FROM NASHVILLE THEN YOU CAN'T SAY YOU FULLY LIKE COUNTRY MUSIC. THE BEST OF COUNTRY MUSIC HAVE SANG AT THE GRAND OLE OPRY WHICH RESIDES IN NASHVILLE .All those singers you mentioned have sang in nashville.

I agree with animallover868. Country music lovers dont diss other type of music. But yeah many people hate it because its quite old sounding and its not the "in" thing. The "in" thing is rap and crap and garbage videos. Sad world. But country music rawks big time.. Because its so honest, so beautifully sad, and so true. :)

Country music is very popular. Ask some of the top singers in the country (USA) this question and find out how much money they make from fans!

Well too often lately the modern stuff celebrates stupidity. When I was younger and Kenny Rodger, Oakridge boys and Dolly Parton were big they had more interesting songs. And if you go back even further singers it was even better.

I think bluegrass is more what country should be. Modern stuff just doesn't do it for me.
