I think its about time that some sort of technology was brought in to avoid teams losing out due to bad refereeing. What happened to the goal-line technology we heard so much about before the world cup? The France game the other night highlights just how much this is needed. Its ridiculous that we still rely on human judgment for such matters.
As for video replays, obviously it would have to be instant, and the amount of times a team could challenge the referees call would have to be restricted, perhaps until the ref decides they are wrong, to avoid the game stopping every 20 seconds. Im sick of seeing goals flagged offside when they arent, and vice versa. Or red cards for no reason. Just ask the Spain team of 4 years ago how much they would have liked to have had video replays in that match against S. Korea, and countless other teams who this has ever happened to.
So the question is, When is Mr Blatter going to get his act together and introduce something like this??

The most frustating part of sport competition are the judges. I think that somthing has to be done. Like adding referees in charge of different zones on the field. In football soccer, videos won't be of much help. If they determine after a review that a player wasn't offside, the adventage is lost.

Fully supportive of the video. We have seen too many bad refereeing spoiling good matches. Even Blatter agreed that it was a bad call on the part of the referee on the match between Arsenal and Barcelona. No point lamenting after the game. FIFA should oo something soon. With advance technology now, they can't argue that it will slow the game. It leaves a bad taste when a good game is spoiled by incompetent referee.

There is a system used at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships called "Hawkeye" that has recently been adopted by Channel 4's cricket coverage that tells if a ball is deemed "wicket" or not. There have been suggestions that such a scheme could be used for football.
