The Cubs did win the World Series a couple of times, though the people who remember the event are becoming as scarce as survivors of the Titanic. (The Cubs last won it in 1908, when Teddy Roosevelt was president.)

As for a single game, on May 26, 1964 the Mets beat the Cubs 19-1.

Statistically, I do not know what was the Cubs' worst season ever, but their most humiliating season had to be 1966, when they became the first team to ever finish behind the Mets; the Cubs were tenth and dead last that year. People joked that Leo Durocher, the Cubs' manager, had become a nice guy.

(There were only seven years when a National League team could finish in tenth place, 1962 through 1968. In that stretch the Mets finished last five times, the Cubs once and the Astros once. The Mets finished ninth in the two years they didn't finish tenth. And then they won the World Series.)

the worst margin of victory is 98 years of sucking a$$. The cubs are the most pathetic professional sports franchise 100 yrs or older. They need to take everything in chicago that has to do with the cubs, put it in that old relic, falling apart, ivy infested, cracker jackk box wrigley and burn it to the ground, sell the team, fire the management and coaches, pick a new name and uniforms, and start all over. It is either that or be pathetic in this league for the next 100 years.
