Take it from a woman who went through 19 hours of hard labor with out medication......It is some of the worse pain you will ever experience. Look at it this way.....Its like squeezing a watermelon out of a hole the size of a lemon.

I'm not going to lie - it is not a walk in the park. It is the most painful experience I have ever had. But then I also got my child out of it, so it was also the best experience I ever had. It was well worth the pain. Just go into with a game plan - if you want to use something for the pain, don't feel badly and ask for it when you are ready. If you don't want anything for the pain, have a manta (a phrase you repeat over and over) or a picture/stuffed animal/something to focus on and take your mind off the pain. Listen to the nurses too - they are super helpful and know what they are doing.

Well,
The contractions are like severe menstrual cramps. They are not to bad but they do hurt-

Its the pushing that is intense.
If you get an epidural, which is a tube inserted into your spine with pain medication, This helps a lot. It basically numbs your from the waist down.

Once its over you don't remember the pain and any mom can tell you that, other wise the world would not be populated.

Ummm... I like to say that it's like trying to fit a saint bernard through a cat door, or a watermelon through something the size of a lemon. It isn't pleasant at all, but with drugs and the right support, it isn't bad.

Pushing the baby out isn't the bad part, contractions are the bad part. It feels like someone is taking your insides and twisting them into ballon animals. Then on top of that are poking them with red hot pokers.

I really like epidurals!! They are best thing ever invented. For anyone that is having a baby, why not enjoy the process and not be in pain? It's so much better then natural labor and birth.. at least for us with low pain tolerance. ;)

But if I can do, anyone can! I'm a whimp, I'll admit it. :D

I have given birth to 5 kids. With my oldest I had lots of pain meds so I didn't feel much until 3 days later, then it was horrible.
With my next 2 I had absolutely no pain meds, matter of fact I barely got to the hospital before they were born, and believe this that pain is indescribable.
My 4th baby(my only girl)was still born due to an accident I was in.The doctors gave me all kinds of meds then,so many that I couldn't remember the next 3 weeks, still don't.apparently I almost died, had to have what they considered a complete blood transfusion cause I lost so much blood. The pain I felt then was the worst thing I ever felt, mostly emotional.
My youngest (my baby) was born in march, before then it had been 5 years, but I remembered how bad the actual giving birth was so I had I.V. meds with him but it was still EXTREMELY painful.
so yes giving birth is very painful but in most cases,it's all worth it.Cause as soon as you see that beautiful little miracle you forget all about any pain you felt.

Oh man... I did it all natural with my first 3, my fourth ended in an emergency c-section after 28 hours of labor.

Lets just say after having a spinal with my c-section I could never do a natural birth again.

honestly the pain is unexplainable: It's kinda like the worst period cramps with also having cramps when you gotta really poop. But like others have said here, EPIDURALS are the best. I love the anastegiologist. After all the work it's worth it.

some say they don't remember the pain, but it's all worth it in the end! And I heard it's more of a relief to push, its the dilating and waiting that hurts more than anything!

The first is very painful, but it really is mind over matter. Pysch yourself out, Say, millions of women have had children for millions of years, you can do this too. Then scream epidural now!!!
