You might also like to keep in mind that this country, the USA, touts itself as the most advanced in the world. (come to think of it, they would prolly also say most medically advanced ;)

Outside of religion, I am amazed that it is so prevalent. (I do not attempt to argue with people's religious beliefs.) However, I find that the most strident supporters are dads who are circumcised.

Neither my own sons nor my grandsons are cut, and I figure that's the best I can do. I do know that occasionally, the surgery is necessary later in life, but that's rare. I had a double mastectomy due to breast cancer, but I'd hardly cut off my children's breasts at birth because they might also get breast cancer.

Oh, well, as I read more and more on Y!Answers, I learn that Americans may not be as smart as I always thought they were. The number of responses that are based on superstition and incorrect information in any given catagory is well over 50%.

MY My you cetainly like to be dramatic! Most circumcision do not end up as mutilations. Circumcision is not really necessary but has been a common practice in this country for ages. Personally I would not have my infant son circumcized even though I am and my family is.
