I was just talkin to my friends on aim, and my mouse/cursor froze. I restrated my computer three times, and it still wont work. I've been using my keyboard (the tab button) to get around on my computer, but it's still hard. How do i get my mouse/cursor to work again? And it's plugged in, and the red light underneath my mouse (the one that i use my hand to move) is on. it's a wireless mouse, too. and i cant click anything either.

There should be a "connect" button on the receiver for the mouse. That is, if you aren't using a bluetooth mouse and computer. And check the mouse for any such button as well. It's also possible the issue is a software one...maybe the mouse is working fine but the driver is corrupt. Try this: Right-click "my computer" and select "properties", select the "hardware" tab, and then hit the "device manager" button. There will be a list of hardware installed on your computer, the one you want is probably under "Mice and other pointing devices." You should see your mouse under that list. Check if it says there are any conflicts or errors of any kind. And if possible, update the driver for it. You may need the disk that came with your mouse.

I also have a wireless mouse (Microsoft) and I'm not sure if yours is like mine but there's a tiny "Connect" button at the bottom of the mouse and if you push it that it might solve your problem. Also, if you have something plugged into your computer that senses the wireless mouse, there should be a button on there that will reset everything and it should re-locate your mouse and establish a connection. Finally, maybe the mouse needs to be closer to the sensor so that it can be read properly. I hope this helps!

Try changing the batteries, but because the optical light's on that may or may not help. My guess is that it's a driver issue. If you have access to a standard mouse (a wired one), plug that in. Go to the manufacturer's web site for your wireless mouse, and download the latest drivers.

I would replace the mouse with one with a wire. wireless ones use up batteries too quickly for my liking.

But if you want to carry on with that one check the infra-red receiver is plugged in correctly and everthing has batteries. and take it back to the store if that fails.

Restart your computer, but before that check connection to make sure it's in all the way.
