oprah. dr phil is full of crap. at least oprah has celebs and gives regular people money and houses and makes their dreams come true

Well, to be very frank, they are not really any different. Basically, Dr. Phil is now what Opera was a few years ago. I can already see Dr. Phil heading in the direction that Opera has already traveled. Both shows started with the best of intentions but they are slowly sliding into worse and worse material simply because of the pressure to stay on top of the TV market and keep people's attention. I will not watch Opera at all but I will watch Dr. Phil sometimes. So, that being said, I guess I would have to say Dr. Phil.
They both have the same practices and approaches to counseling (realist counseling theory) but Opera is long gone down the hill of corruption and becoming a TV hit whereas Dr. Phil is just starting down that slope.

The Opera can get quite boring, only europeans and rich folks really enjoy it, plus its usually in italian or portugese, and not just that,, they sing every line, like anybody does that in real life. anyways Dr. Phil is a big phoney, he does nothing but make obvios analyses of ppls problems.. like if ia guy is a smoker Dr. Phil would say: "son, what you have to do is stop smoking, its killing you." so between the Opera and Dr Phil, id rather go to the opera, because its slightly entertaining and not full of an audiance of white trash.

Dr. Phil because I absolutely hate the audiences at Oprah! A bunch of screaming, annoying, half-orgasmic, middle-aged women! If Oprah mentions tofu, they stand up and cheer, clap and scream uncontrollably! How annoying.

I'd say Ellen DeGeneres, despite you didn't say that as an option. I only saw one episode of her show, and I'm hooked.
It's funny, and lively. Oprah may be that way, but it's not always that funny.
