The chain in question is most likely copper that had a silver coating and is now worn. My wife seems to think that there is a product to dip the chain into to renew the silver look.

I've heard of it. I know there is a fake gold dip.
People sell dipped leaves on ebay so it has to be out there.
You should probably ask the pros.

You could just pay like ten dollars and go to a jewlery store and ask them to dip it in Silver or Gold for you.

Yes, there is, just go to a Jewelry Store and ask them where it you can get that done. Because Most Jewelry Stores tend to do that.
