i think it will be fare to the rich like every thing else

Corporations & the rich sure as hell do pay taxes. They pay over 85% of all money collected by the federal government. Hell if they'd cut the budget a bit they could cut everyone below $200,000 to zero taxes & still be just fine. Go check you numbers.

So far as a consumption tax, anything is better than the currently screwed up graduated income tax. A consumption tax, luxuray tax, import/export tax, & flat tax combination sound much more like fair (even though nothing can ever really be fair to everyone). I'm a little hesitant because sales tax & property tax traditionally belong to the states, and the feds seem to keep weaseling in on anything they can get their grubby little hands on.

Sure. It is based on consumption, and (what a shocker) the rich buy more stuff than poor people do. A lot more.

And it means those who have inherited wealth, like Kerry, the Kennedys, Rockefeller, Gore, etc, will pay taxes more commensurate with their wealth, based on their purchases. And they will not be able to shelter it or anything else.

It's sad so many people are so overly concerned about sticking it to rich people. Envy is such an ugly sin.

The "Fair Tax" will not be fair because no tax is fair. Otherwise it would be called a 'fee'.

Taxes are funds taken by force.

Fees are funds paid voluntarily.

The "Fair Tax" is an oxymoron.
