No. Be confident if you are going into the 5th grade. The only way you will ever be bad at math is if you don't listen, don't ask questions, aren't confident, or don't pay attention. You'll do fine. Don't stress.

First, I would change the 48 3/4 into a fraction: [(48 * 4) + 3] / 4 = 195/4 You also know that since that 1/3 is white, which means that 1 - 1/3, or 2/3 will be red. This means you multiply 195/4 by 2/3, giving you: 390 / 12 = 195/6 = 65/2 yards, or 32 1/2 yards.

no, from what i saw in my little brother's math book, it is still basic math, dividing, fractions, multipying, and maybe some percentages. piece of cake!
there are some word problems that can be hard if the child can not understand it, try reading more books(fifth grade level) and asking the teacher for help on the things that bother him/her the most.
hope the fifth grader behind this question is doing well, good luck!

geez, i am in college now, i wish i were doing 5th grade math instead on college level Statistics.

Math is only hard if you let it be hard. If you pay attention, do the homework, and ask questions, math shouldn't be too hard...at least at this level. I've found that when I think it's going to be something I can't do, I fail but if I believe I will be able to do it, I excel. It's just a mind set. Good luck!!!

Not at all, even to a 5th grader, it's easy for its level. It's part of the No Child Left Behind act to increase confidence.

It depends on how advanced you are. It varies. Some 5th graders have a hard time and some do not. I know that I didn't and my sister had a really hard time.
