Do I have to include the AGEIA® PhysX® physics accelerator at the time of online purchase, or (if I don't get it) will the computer allow me to add it later?

Chances are with dell, that it will be cheaper to add it at time of purchase.
Also, if there is a problem with the installation, it's their problem and not yours.
Also, adding the unit after purchase may void your warranty.
Personally, I think it would be best to have THEM install it, that way if you have problems with it later, they will be much more likely to support it.

The PhysX card is available as an add-in card, and like any other add-in card, it does NOT void your warranty. The advantage of getting it at the time of purchase, is that you know it will come ready to go, drivers installed and tested. It might be cheaper as part of the package right now, but like all things technie, it will only go down in price, or a newer/better/faster model will replace it.

You can always add a component later if you are willing to do it yourself. You can usually get Dell to add the component later too. However, adding it yourself will void the warranty, and Dell will charge more to add it later than to add it right away.

Unless you are competent enough to install it yourself without problems and aren't don't mind not having a warranty, I would recommend having Dell install it upon purchase.
