WHen you visit a site, your IP address is given to the server computer. That computer can then do a name look up on the IP address and see what provider supplied the IP address. In the name look up, the provider city will be also listed and then they can echo that back to the web page display.

Its simple... when you enter the website, your IP ( Internet Protocol ) will be displayed in their traffic monitor.. then with the IP Tracker.. they can find the location.. even your Internet Service Providers Address - Fone number and Email Address..

If needed for Police..With your service provider's help they can even track your Address and Informations that you have given to the service provider when you registered with their Internet Service..

Dont worry.. thats not the website's job...

Service Providers have some restrictions to share your personnel Informations to a third party.. Dont worry..
Your address cannot be revealed but your location can be identified approximately..

They can read the information from the Public Switch Router that your request when though. To find what Router that you are using open a command prompt and type 'tracert www.yahoo.com'

They know because of your IP address. Everyone has an IP address when they visit websites.

You probobly already gave them that information or its on you computer somewhere and they picked that up.
