By both teams, the record is 49, set by the Cubs (26) and Phillies (23) on August 25, 1922. Most by one team is 36, set by the Cubs against Louisville on June 29, 1897.
And there is no Mercy Rule in the major leagues.

if I recall right the Philles and the Cubs played a game on may 17 in 1979 the score was 22 to 23 it's been call the shoot out in Chicago. A great game it on ESPN Classics from time to time that 45 runs
