i have a portable spa but need to make a new cover

Hmmmmm....

I would say to go to a fabric store, look for some sorta heavy fabric, sew it up so it will fit around your spa, and attach velcro to both.

I worked for a spa manufacturer for several years....

We used the thick insulating foam panels, 1.5 to 2 inches thick, and used a heavy vinyl as the cover. You can use velcro, or a zipper to close the cover after inserting the foam panel. This method helps insulate your tub too, besides providing a cover.

You can get the foam panels from any building supply store, it's the same stuff that is used to help insulate around a concrete foundation/basement. The heavy vinyl can be picked up at any fabric store. If you do not have a machine that can sew a heavy material like this, goto an upholstery shop.

#1.put a tarp over it #2.cut around the tarp leaving 18 inches over the edge of the tarp #3. cut half inch holes around the edge of the tarp every 1 foot #4.fit holes with brass gromments #5.put rope through holes(in one hole and out the other) #6 tie at the end.
