Today, President Bush held a press conference in Vienna, Austria as part of a diplomatic visit to Europe. He was asked by a member of the press why approval for his policies, particularly on national security issues, was so low in Europe. Bush explained that Europeans didn’t take the 9/11 attacks seriously. “For Europe, September 11th was a moment. For us, it was a change of thinking.”

85 Europeans died in the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Whats with Repuglicons? They don't consider human deaths anything but a NUMBER...If some disaster were to happen in TEXASS...would it still be a number to Repuglicons?
(I always spell Texass that way, its NOT a misprint)

Is it any wonder that Bush would play his ace in the hole? He has blundered so badly in every phase of his presidency. He took a stable country (IRAQ) with no ties to Al Qaida and made it unstable and insured that it has lasting ties to terrorist organization. His domestic policies are a joke, if not non existent. He has assured fascist policies will abound on the Supreme Court. There is no where that he can point to that has been successful, so he plays the fear factor on 9/11.

The Republican Party has an agenda. That is to slowly strip away the freedoms we have held so dearly and turn this into a Corporate/Police state. I would say that Bush is the architect but he isn't that smart. What burns me is that many people are too naive to see what is happening.

You disdain for Bush and the "Repuglicons" is shinning through. Its pretty obvious to us "republicans" that the far left in the United States and Europe don't take 9/11 Seriously. You worry more about some loud music and Gitmo then you do two American soldiers getting their heads cut off. You worry more about a civilian in Iraq then a city in America. Bush said it like it is...and it obviously struck a neve ....maybe there is an ounce of hope left for you yet.

Of course he's using 9/11 to his advantage. His biggest political weapons are fear and ignorance. None of these people who posted answers insulting you and praising Bush know the first thing about the geopolitical conditions of the Middle East. They don't know about Iraq's history or the difference between a Sunni and a Shiite, or OBL's motivation for carrying out the attacks, or the long history of the Bush and Saudi royal family, or who is behind the bulk of Iraq's insurgency, or who the founder of the Taliban is, or where the money for this war is coming from and they don't care. They have some vague notion of a swarthy bearded horde of brown people who want to kill us "because they hate our freedom" and they love the idea of trading in their liberty to King George so they can go back to watching American Idol. It's easier to do that than think for themselves.

85 Europeans... 3000 Americans. There is a difference.

Instead of just insulting things you don't understand, why not turn off the Greenday CD and do some independent thinking?

I don't even know why I bother trying to reason with you. I've seen all of your questions and answers, and all I can ascertain is that you're very immature, have no concept of the realities of politics, and you have a blind, ignorant hate of Bush and people who think differently from you, regardless of the issues.

Hey as Johnny Carson said, if you find something that works go with it. Problem with Bush is he has went over the three joke limit with it. While 9/11 is still on everybodies minds, Bush is unpopular because he is a real as*hole, and more people are figuring it out.

Ok you communist, listen up. Europeans suck. You disgust me you filthy, disgusting hypocrite. We know that we dont look very good all you other countries, but let me tell you, we are doing 300x more than anything you cheap 3rd world counties do. Just a moment for Europeans because it wasn't on their home soil. It happened on ours. BIG DIFFERENCE. So you ignorant half-being, we have lost 200+ people in the fight against terrorism. What have you done? Hm? Nothing? Point out our obvious problems? Good job, wipe. Proud of your self? Feel better, you amazing revolutionist? If you honestly think that us Americans are doing nothing and doing bad, you can take your communist ideas and shove it. We are doing more good than any other lame country out there. Get off Yahoo! Answers before I find you.

God I'm so sick of that answer. If you don't agree you don't get it. I'm sick of it. Yes I think the administration has beat this horse to death and I think they do it to justify programs and responses that are extreme. Wire tapping without warrents ? Allright we need that so they are saying the threat is so dire in the states they can't take the time to get a warrent ? That "terrorist threat" is so imediate they can't make the tap and then seek the warrent (within 72 hours) ? If that's the case how do they then turn around and tell us were safe enough to allow the AEU to take key posistions in American shipping ports ? I'm hearing this message of dire threat when it suits him and were safe when it suits him ? I really think it's all spin and the reality lies somewhere in an intelligence brief baried in Jr's fathers libary next to a copy of the Rise and Fall of Rome.

you totally missed his point. Europe does not consider 9/11 a big deal. They consider it as something to be fogotten and moved onto. It is a cost of doing business to them.

For America, 9/11 and Pearl were both a sneak attack. Yes, our enemies had their reasons to attack us, but that does not justify their attacks. For us, being punched in the eye makes us go to the mattress. remember, Europe let Hitler get as big as he got unchallenged, and let milo kill all those people as well. Not really a good source for "moral criticism". It was US intervention in both that changed them for the better and stopped the evil.

How did you want him to answer? His real answer should be, "I care about people in another countries opinion of me and my country? Why should I do that? They don't vote for our governmental positions. I control their politics as much as they control mine, which is not at all."
He is right though, because if Vienna was hit by terrorists, it would be a huge deal and suddenly all of Europe would be wanting all of Al Queda's heads.
Accept the facts, you don't like him and his party, and all you can do is sit and complain about it. Instead of complaining, why not do something to make it better, like communicating your anger to the president and your representatives?

Whatever, all the EU leaders AGREE with Bush about Iran and North Korea. You shut your liberal hole because I can tell by how you spell there's no way in hell you could do a better job. I know you just want to wait here until the terrorists come and blow us up AGAIN, but thanks to Bush, that wont be happening anytime soon.
