Get off the main streets and go down the side streets near the big fountains. There are many cafes there and they are very reasonably priced and have great coffee too. Everything in and around the Eiffel tower is expensive.

I was in Paris in may 2006 - unfortunately with a very low budget...but hey, I can eat what I want in Romania... I went to Paris to visit, not to eat.
I bought salads with 1.30 EURO at FRANPRIX (a chain of small shops with low prices and fresh food - anywhere in Paris) and Royale Bacon -1.95 EURO - from Mc Donald's + "cigarette aux amandes" -as dessert (1.5 EURO) - from a nice Boulangerie, near Montmartre.
A pizza was 8-9 Euro - but in Montmartre - 10-12 EURO!!
The same thing is happening with other stuff (T-shirts for example).
Don't forget the CHEESE: GOUDA, BRIE....excellent in Paris!
I wish you a wonderful time in Paris - Go to Sacre Coeur by the sunset (is located on a hill, you can discover all the beauty of Paris) and take a ride in a boat "sur la Seine", ok?

would just like to back up the recommendation for Bistro Romain, I had dinner in one of their restaurants on monday night. The food was great, not too expensive, and the staff were helpful. There was a really good atmosphere too.
If you want good restaurants, just wander round the area you are in, and look at menus- if you have an idea of what you would like to spend, you are sure to find something if you get away from the tourist areas a bit.

Bistro du 17eme, it's a neighborhood bistro off the C line (yellow) of the RER. Can't remember the exact location but they have a great prix fixe (fixed price) menu including a starter, main course, dessert, and wine. They have a limited number of English language menus, not to mention the food is divine - try their profiteroles for dessert!

Try one of the Brasseries, the resteraunts are all pretty expensive unless you go somewhere that's self service with plastic seats. Try down the back streets for a wee brasserie, they have the menu outside of course so you can check the prices.

If you like Chinese, I would recommend HI-LIM at 8 Emile Zola near the Javel Metro.
Excellent food in nice quiet surroundings and reasonably priced.
The owner was very friendly and attentive.

Depends on what kind of food you are looking for and your budget. It is pretty common to have Kebahs which cost range from 4 Euro to 6 Euro depending on what you ordered. Sandwiches are fine. Chinese food are charge according to grams and it would be better to make your way to Belleville or Porte d'Italie. For Indian food, you can make your way to La Chapelle. Above location chinese and Indian food would cost from the range of 5 Euro to 10 Euro depending on what you ordered. For Pizza, you can go to Pizza Pino, range from 8 Euro to 16 Euro per pizza. Pizza Pino is located at Champs Elysées and Montparnasse. For French Food, you can try Mairie de St-Quen lunch would be cheaper than dinner.

There is the Entrecote resturant just off the Champs Elyses. Nice steaks and they keep bringing you more chips and jugs of their lovely pepper steak sauce for as long as you can eat them. Not expensive either - if you don't drink much!
