people say that 'emo' musicians are all whiny suicidle kids but look at chris carrraba from dashboard confessional......he doesn't exactly look like the whiny suicidle kid type...emo is just a stupid name given to the music because it means its emotional but shouldn't all music be emotional? also i hate it when people use emo as an adjective. its a genre of music people!...but i still don't get why all of a sudden the music i've been listening to is popular and is now called emo.....it makes me feel like i'm just one of those people who listen to it because its the new cool thing to do..but i'm not i've been listening to it before any of it was popular and the word 'emo' was used by people....it makes me mad...feel free to enlighten me

maybe it's called like this because it's becoming more and more popular and commercial. but if you really like this music so much( i like it too) you should't care. they are just a bunch of silly people who realised the true value of punk music.
maybe another reason is because they're gealous, they al like rap, and they wanna say that this kind of music is for the ones with emotional problems, but we now that it isn't exactly like that

Chris Carabba's Dashboard isn't emo. They're just bad. Especially their new CD.
Emo is short for "emotive hardcore" and I can almost garuntee that nothing you listen to would actually qualify as emo. People are just labeling because they don't know what else to call it. Most of it's really just pop-punk.
If the whole "emo" thing bothers you so much ignore it; you don't need to listen to who calls your music what. Just enjoy it regardless of meaningless labels.

Music should be whatever the musician wants it to be, as long as it's honest and there's a bit of intelligence in the writing. Emo is a fun tag for people to make fun, just like hardcore and even grindcore was to listen to, because it's cool to that crowd. Those same people should mature in time, shut their mouth, and just listen.
