How can you tell if the items you bidding on aren't stolen and someone isn't just using Ebay to get rid of their stolen items?I really like Ebay but I try to be very careful of what I buy and who I buy from. ANd if it is stolen, isn't that also a Postal crime sending and receiving stolen property through the mail?

Yes I agree, check their feedback and their rating. If the comments are negative it's best not to take the chance. But If no one else has had a problem with them then you're not likely to either.

The good thing about Ebay is that everything is traced. When you purchase something you can only assume the item is legit, therefore you can not be held liable if something you purchase is previously stolen. If for some reason you do find yourself in trouble for purchasing stolen property it is 100 times easier to track the seller to prosecute them rather than you.

I have the same dilemma.
So, I don't buy anything used and traceable. Like electronics, bikes or anything else with serial numbers or id tags.
Of course you can always ask for the original bill of sale with the item.
