I just asked a question about sex in the last trimester and I got a lot of responses back that differed. Many people tell me that my wife and I shouldn't be having sex at all in the 6 weeks prior to her due date. Her doula told us that sex is a great thing to have and will help her cervix thin out making labor easier and faster. Does anyone know for sure if sex in the last month before the due date is ok? On a side note if it is ok what are some other positions you can recommend other than doggie-style. My wife hates that position but its the only one that kind of works with her pregnant belly.

Having sex is fine during pregnancy. It does help thinning the cervix and my OB actually recommened it as I was a week late. As for posistions you could try spooning, or having her lay on the side of the bed with a pillow under her for support and you standing. You can also do this posistion with you kneeling on the bed. Just make sure to use lots and lots of pillows for her comfort. You can go to a bookstore and get a kama sutra book for pregnant women. Best book ever

sex in the last part of the pregnancy is fine unless your doctor advises you otherwise you should always make sure with your doctor first but if your wife has no complications with her pregnancy then they will tell you that you can have all the sex that you want to have i know my husband and i had sex all the time when i was pregnant we even had sex the day i was due to go get induced some positions that work well are her on top that way there is no pressure on her belly you could also try spooning which is when you lay on the bed behind her and have sex that way or you could try her laying on the edge of the bed and you stand on the floor and have sex that way you just have to experiment and see what the two of you like

The only time sex in the last trimester isn't safe is when a complication has occurred, otherwise it's fine. If you're doctor who has cared for your wife for 8 months says it's ok than it's ok. My husband and I had sex until the day I went into labor and no problems occurred. Spooning is the next best position followed by her being on top. Good luck!

Sex in the last trimester is perfectly fine, and won't harm her or the baby at all! UNLESS she's considered high risk. In that case, her doctor or midwife should have explained that to her and put her on bed rest. Her doula is correct about sex sometimes helping her labor begin.

Other positions...her on top facing you with you lying on your back, or "spooning" (her on her side, and you snuggled up to her from behind, going in that way (but not IN her behind, lol). Those are the only two I can think of.

Many people here, don't haev an idea about what they are talking about. As long as there are no complications in your wife's pregnancy, you can still have sex...in whatever position is good or her...there should be books out there for sex for the pregnant couple. Your Doula is right...the sperm helps the cervix

Have sex throughout the pregnancy as long as she does not have any pain is fine. If she becomes uncomfortable, just take a break and let her heart rate come down and then continue. Three kids and two brothers that are doctors.

The best positions are on her side, her on top, and sometimes this may sound weird, so sorry, but if she stays on her back and slightly leans to the one side and lifts her leg then she could be comfortable.

It is perfectly fine to have sex until the baby is born. My doctor (OBGYN) advised it, as long as i was comfortable. It does help thin out her cervix, and also helps her relax. Spooning is a good position because there is no strain on her tummy. Also you sitting and her laying, legs around your tummy, support her back and bottom with some pillows. This was most comfortable with me.

your doula is 100 % right! Even my mds said it is encouraging to have sex , up until the last second if you can . Google Holistic Childbirth , on that website , it states how some women like to orgasim while in labor ..
Anyhow , if you are both just looking for orgasim , improvise and try masturbation together, or have her on top ,

Sex is fine and if her doula is telling you it's ok, dont worry about people on here!
You can spoon and of course doggy style! (I hate that pos too!)
I supposed you could try any position as long as it doesn't hurt her!
Good Luck!
