Honor her feelings, don't see them as a problem that needs to be fixed. Ask her what makes her feel good. If it is a bubble bath, always works for me, then buy her some nice bubble bath and a scented eye pillow. Give her some space. If it takes weeks or months to pass talk to a doctor, otherwise let her feel her feelings.

It's a little hard to answer this question with substance since I'm not sure what caused the depression but you can suggest using a self healing technique that works for many of life's issues and challenges, including depression.

Visit www.ahealingmind.com go to the Emotional Freedom Technique Page for diagrams, a free manual download and an overview of the technique.

Also on the site (the Pathways Page) are other self healing techniques that may prove beneficial.

NO one can get ANYONE out of depression. It is something the depressed person must do for themselves while loved ones watch and suffer as they do. Is she merely depressed (down and feeling funky), or is she clinically depressed, in other words, diagnosed by a doctor as depressed? There are some effective medications to fight depression.

The best thing you can do is be there for her and, above all, do not feed into her depression by allowing her to cry on your shoulder endlessly. She needs to work out whatever is depressing her, and serving as a crying towel allows the depressed person to avoid doing just that. It sounds cruel, but I have been clinically depressed and know what it is like and what needs to be done to get over it. Not easy!!

I hope this helps.

If only I knew the answer to this question. I feel your pain brutha, it sucks when you are with someone who is always down on themselves. Only real advice I can give you is to not own her problems. People tend to take on others problems when they are around them too much. I don't know if your living with her, but if you are I'm sure this is affecting you as well. Try your best not to let it, and try to get her out in the sun more often. For some reason, outdoor activity is supposed to alieviate stress to a degree and improve overall wellness.

Medically, you can get her prozac or wellbutrin. I'm personally not a fan of chemical pleasure, may as well smoke crack if you ask me, those toothless bastards seem pretty happy :)

Have you tried talking to her? Ask her what is going on in her life, and if she doesn't feel comfortable sharing with you, then just give her a great big hug!! Hugs always make people feel better. And just remember to be there for her so when she comes around she has a trustworthy ear to listen to her.

Just help her through it. You can force her to get out of it. Encourge her to talk to someone about what is going on.
