I think you all missed the point of the question. Whatelse is there? Everything can be smaller and faster. But what's going to be new? Computers, they get faster but do you really see the speed? Recently my internet was doubled form 1.5MB downstream to 3.0 down stream, and now when I click on the link, it takes 3 seconds to open instead of 1 with the slower connection. I don't see that being faster. I have a 1 year old computer and I found out today that the two games I want Tomb Raider legends and Hitman Blood Money won't work. because I have a laptop, i cant upgrade my video card so I have to get a new computer or not play. So I won't play.
So whats going to be new to keep this bubble form popping as you say? DVD Blue Ray is nothing new, HD vidoe on a disc that has more capacity. Cellphones? What do they not do? You can internet, email, talk, text, play games, listen to music. So what, they are going to add video? OK. And? Everyone and their mother has a cell phone now.

DVD wether it is HD or Blu-Ray, they will have larger capcity of storage. So what? You can still burn your own like any other media. Flashdrives will get bigger, so? Digital cameras will take higher megapixel pictures, but isn't 8mp enough? When you can print 11x14 HD pictures, what more could you want? They are small, light. Easy to use. So what?
Mp3 players. What else can they do? They do everything now. Smaller? More capacity? And this is new how?
What I want to know is where is the new technology, the big bang that comes in just as another technology goes out.
You think dual core processors are big deal? That is intel dragging their feet. Thge fact is the Pentium 4 only had 75 more lines of code than a Pentium 3. it was suppose to be an internet friendly processor. My Pentium 3 starts windows xp in under 45 seconds, my P4 cant do it under 65 seconds. And the P4 has 4 times the ram. My next point. Computers. Faster processors, more ram, bigger harddrive. OK. So whats new?

I doubt the light bulb was expected to disappear. But we have improved it. Cars change, but do they get better? i see them getting more expensive. But I don't see anything to make me say oh wow, thats new! It's a car.
Radios now have HD stations. Ok, obvious that was going to happen after satel;itte radio came along. OK. So whats new? Satellite tv changed anything? HD tv changed anything?
Flat panel and plasma tv's. What have they done? We got them. Now what. Cordless phones, wireless internet, answering machines, microwaves, advanced cook top surfaces.
Yeah, and? What about the watch. Has it changed since it was created? Everyone has it, but does anyone care? No. So why do people care about a cellphone or MP3 player? PDA's are uncool now. You have one and people are like, hmm. ok. if you need it, ok, but not for me.
So I ask, what is the next big thing? Right now I personally wish someone would create a PCMCIA videocard so I can upgrade my video in my laptop.

I think it would be could if we could use RAM to increase memory for certain devices, Like video card, audio cards. or use flash memory. But if we could, so what. Is that going to be the next big thing?
Someone has the next big thing. I just wanna know what it is. Everything has been done. So what is going to make me say Oh, I NEED THAT!!!
Cars getting 100 miles to the gallon sounds great. But the fact is gas will be $15 a gallon when it happens. So $3 a gallon for 20mpg or $15 a gallon for 100 mpg. Whats the difference?
We can go to the moon anytime we want. We put toys on Mars. We can take pictures and send them back to earth from billions of light years away, but we don't have a cell phone that will talk anywhere in the country. How is that possible?
It's like there is nothing to look forward to, to get excited over.
Your right about kids not going outside anymore. What's wrong with them? They have no clue how much they can have outside.
I don't know.
