I am not looking for how to put an outline around any cell. I want all of the cells referenced in a given formula to be outlined. thanks much.

You mean, like, select the cell with the formula in it, and then click somewhere in the formula bar?

Select the cell with formula and press F2

OR

Tools > Formula Auditing > Trace Precedents

Click the cell you want the outline on, then go to format, cells, border, click outline, then select the outline that you want, and choose the color you want. Click ok and that should do it.

Very simple sweetie,

Just ------- select the cells that you want to outline
------- Go to FORMATS
------- select CELLS
------- go to BORDERS
------- in the lower right hand side of the box you can
select a color.
