maybe other people tease them so they might think you are one of them.

Maybe they have reason to be offended. Are you asking them too many questions about their lifestyle?Gay men and women have equal rights like anyone else but society has looked upon homosexuality as being "un-natural, sick,a choice of lifestyle, taboo etc"Only now is society changing the way they look at gays.Homosexuality is not a chosen lifestyle but is something that you have from the time your born.I knew I was "different" when I was 6 years old and believe me that at 59 years of age being gay hasn't been easy and I definitely would have never have chosen that lifetsyle.I think there are still many gay men and women who feel uncomfortable coming out to friends and relatives because they don't know what the re-action will be. I think your gay friends and brother seem to get offended being they are just beginning to accept themselves as they really are.Just be patient with them and they will come around.

What may be "practically nothing" to you might be extremely offensive to a gay person. Think about what you are saying that makes them mad... Are you using "That's gay" as a phrase to mean something is bad or stupid? Do you ever call people "fags" or use the term in your daily language? The gay community has come a long way, but the intolerance of many people is still very much a part of our lives, schools, churches, and governments. You might not think that you are being offensive, but you need to make sure you are thinking about what would offend THEM, not yourself.

It's not being gay that makes them easily offended, it's a choice that, sadly, people of every race, creed, and color make on a regular basis. Some people focus on the negative in life instead of the positive. Therefore, they're looking for a reason to be offended. No one can offend you if you don't let them!
My way of looking at life: What people say to you and about you is more a reflection on them than you. If someone is honestly trying to hurt your feelings, then they're a jerk, aren't they? Why should you care what they say? And, if they honestly don't mean to be offensive with their comments, then take that to heart, and know that they meant no harm.
People who are easily offended simply can not be dealt with. No matter what you say, eventually, they'll take something the wrong way and demand an apology. I refuse to walk on egg shells around anyone, and if someone seems to be looking to be a victim, I avoid them.

i also have several friends that are gay. The two main ones don't seem to get offended easily and the other well he has one f*** up temper. if i say something in general about something that a gay guy did he immediately thinks I'm making fun of or insulting gays.

It is because they are mentally unstable. if they were "normal" they would not be "queer." Look up the definition of "Queer." It is the opposite of "normal."
