It's not. It doesn't spend seven years in your intestines or whatever that old wives tale says. It goes through your digestive tract just as quickly as anything else and doesn't cause any harm while in your intestines unless you have swallowed an incredibly large amount in a short period of time.

The ingredients in gum aren't digestible and its only bad if you swallow several pieces a day and don't go to the potty regularly!

I don't think chewing gum is dangerous. Just go on, and don't be frightened by urban legends. One advice from me : keep your mouth closed when you are chewing, the noise is really dangerous!!! haha
