What is the difference between the Miss USA and Miss America Pagents?

Sponsorship is everything!! I think the Miss America is the one with the more clout but if you are a contestant, either one gives you the opportunity to have National exposure and the contracts that go with winning, should you be so lucky. It's like the different leagues in football. They couldn't have enough teams though the NFL so they made another one with slightly different rules and boom!! The Florida Jaguars were born. Good question!!
